The Reef Dive Resort at Mataking Island, Malaysia, is the newest and hottest dive spot in the Celebes Sea, located just 40 minutes from Semporna, a fishing town at east coast of the state of Sabah, Malaysia.

We provide luxurious accommodation to the enchanting undersea world of Mataking Island. The Alice Channel which is about 100 meters deep connecting Mataking to Sipadan Island just 60 minutes boat ride away. This explains why Mataking is just as fascinating as famed Sipadan Island.

Life on Land

Back on land, the night life can be exciting watching fire flies.  Green and Hawksbill turtles come up to lay their eggs in the sands of Mataking Island. During the day, bask on the snow white sandy beach and enjoy the sight of the island’s coconut crab scurrying up a tree.  You can also take a walk while listening to the bird’s singing in our exotic garden.  If you prefer a bird’s eye view of Mataking, climb up the King’s Watchtower and enjoy the breathtaking sight.  If you are more adventurous, grab a few friends and explore the lushness of the tropical island vegetation or have some fun playing beach volleyball & beach soccer.  You can also take the chance to re-enact Moses’ miraculous crossing of the Red sea by taking a stroll down the 1km sandbar that connects Mataking and Mataking Kecil at low tide.  The water literally split into half and you don’t even have to wave your hands!  Mother Nature does it all for you.

Under the Sea

 When the crystal turquoise waters of Mataking beckons, it is an offer that cannot be refused.  Suit up and explore the 30 or so dive sites in and around Mataking and the surrounding islands of Pandanan, Bohayan and Buhai Dulang.  Swim along with the barracuda, rainbow runner, turtles, trevally, tuna, goby, frog fish, mandarin fish and other rare species of fish.  Be awestruck by the varied species of nudibranch and other macro that have made the western reef their home.  Head over to the Alice Channel on the eastern shore which stretches across to Sipadan Island, offering just as much exhilarating sea creatures.  The D'wall, Nudibranch Heaven, Barracuda Point and Picturesque Reef are some of the diving sites that should be on every diver’s list.  If you would rather stay nearer to shore, grab your snorkeling mask and swim with the fishes there.  The marine life close to shore is just as magnificent as those found in the deep end.

 The Resort

The Reef boasts 8 executive chalets and 12 deluxe rooms in traditional architecture offering simply elegant and exquisite accommodation up to 60 pax in a serene and cozy set up.  The air-conditioned rooms have attached sea view bathrooms and balcony.  You can also stay connected with those who are a world away from you as internet services are available at Mataking.  The resort also has satellite TV with more than 30 channels for your viewing pleasure.  Please your palate at our spacious restaurant serving Asian and Continental Buffet or pamper yourself at our Jamu spa and jakuzzi.  The resort offers 3 boat dives a day, unlimited house reef diving and not to be missed excursion to the nearby island including the well known island of Sipadan and Mabul.  Exotic honeymoon and wedding arrangement can also come true on this romantic paradise.

Diver's package includes the following

Night dives are shore dives from the Dive Centre platform and to be conducted from 19.00 hrs to 21.00 hrs.  Divers who wish to night dive must show proof of maximum certification of Advance Open Water in the forms of certification cards and/or log books documenting such dives.

For guests who request and wish to do additional dive at Sipadan will be charged accordingly (exclude government levy of RM40.00 per pax):

Terms and Conditions
The above pricing is based on twin sharing.
Minimum of 4 nights is the recommended length of stay.
Diving package includes 3 boat dives a day covering neighboring islands, unlimited dives at Mataking Reef Shore, diving weight, weight belt and tanks.
Resorter package includes 1 free boat snorkel per day and 1 free snorkel lesson.
Unused portion of the dives is not refundable and not transferable.
For single occupancy, a supplement fee of 50% is charged on top of the published price.
Children aged between 1-4 traveling with their parents will pay 30% while children 5 to 12 years old will pay 50% of the non-diver rate. 

Wedding Package/Honeymoon
Our resort is also very suitable to host beach/traditional and underwater wedding arrangement and/or honeymoon vacations.  The following can be arranged upon request at additional charges.
